Scams on the internet are very common now a days. Every year people loose millions of dollars because of the internet scams. Scammers use different means to trick people into
stealing their money and personal information. Scammers send spam emails to the people with attractive offers like offering them jobs and promising them money they have
won in some sort of lottery. A few days ago i also recieved one copy of such spam emails.
The scammers used the name of BBC National Lottery to inform me that i had won $7,50,000 and asked me to send them my basic information to transfer the funds into my account. Ironically i do not even qualify for the lottery let alone winning the lottery as you should be physically located in uk or Isle of Man to win the national lottery but they took me for a complete fool. You have to be very desperate and completely naive to the internet scams to fall for such scams as their email itself tells the story that they are not legitimate. The complete design of the lottery image looks very amateur and low quality for a well reputed company like BBC.
But again we have our world full of poor and desperate people who are very likely to fall for such scams. One such desperate and poor man was Ratan Kumar Malbisoi from india who travelled a 1,000 miles to claim bogus lottery prize. He was told that he had won 20 or 30 million rupees and send them his personal details to claim the prize, which he did but then they asked him to send them 4,000 rupees to process his payments. Poor and unemployed Ratan Kumar Malbisoi was unable to pay even 4,000 rupees and asked them to cut the fee from the prize money. The scammers knew they had contacted the wrong person and they won't be getting anything from here so they ended the conversation by saying that they will send him cheque. Ratan Kumar waited for a long time in hope to recieve the cheque and mean while he travelled from his home town to the lottery office which was nearly a 1,000 miles away and all he got in the end was disappointment.
The best way to avoid getting scammed is by doing a good research on any such offers and services before making a final decision. The internet is full of help and information about a lot of things and your little research can prevent you from a bigger loss.
